Not usually busy
I am not one to get a lot of clothes dry cleaned. Approximately 3 months ago I took a wool sweater to be cleaned. When I went to pick up the sweater, they could not find my name, address, etc. I happen to see the sweater randomly hanging on a rack. It was not covered, no plastic over it. I paid for it and went home. I found that a small stain that was on the front pocket was still there and the sweater was full of cat hair????? Not sure if it ever got cleaned??
I picked up the dress and it looked pretty clean. Not perfect, but my daughter was going to wear on Saturday, Oct 8 for a second reception in Lowell.
That was on Oct. 10 and today is Oct 18 and I've still not received my refund?????
Not very happy with this whole situation and especially the damaging of my daughters wedding dress. :(
She offered credit amounts, but as I said, i don't use dry cleaning very often. She apparently went to speak with a manager, which I had asked to speak with originally and returned to offer me a refund for the cleaning of $31.50.
With no other recourse, I accepted this refund and was told it would be in check form and I would receive my end of week.
I later had two men's suits done and they turned out fine. However, on Oct. 4, I brought in my daughters wedding dress that she had worn in Denver on Saturday for her wedding and reception. The bottom was very dirty and I mentioned it to the girl that waited on me. She said I could pick up on Friday, Oct 7 after 5:00 as they would need extra time to clean.
We were very disappointed, but nothing else we could do.
Clean
On Monday, Oct 10, I took the dress back to Curtis Cleaners to let them know what had happened. I asked for a manager, but the person who assisted me said she could help me. I explained the problem and she said: "they didn't do it on purpose" . I was a little confused by her answer, as I never said it was on purpose. I simply said that they were a professional cleaners and should have known how to handle this dress. I now had a $250.00 dress that was ruined.
They tried locking the doors 35 minutes early while I went outside with my kids, we walked to McDonalds to grab a shake, came back to my clothes still drying. I had my clothes in the dryer with less than 10 minutes on it when we left. The entire time I'm outside waving, knocking on the door... all 3 patrons just looked away, while the employee just stared at me. A very nice elderly gentleman, who was the only one acknowledging my obvious panic, pushed himself to the door with his walker and opened it for me. An old man, with a walker, while the young employee just stood there, looking dumb. I got the older man back to his seat near his dryer, and proceeded to my 2 dryers. All the other 3 patrons, besides the older man had almost 20 minutes left! My laundry had less than 3! Oh well, sure did fold ALL my laundry and had that old man wait for me, because I stayed and folded all his too. While being watched disgustingly by the clearly annoyed employee. OH WELL. I had to take my time, that man deserved perfectly folded clothes and towels. Too bad for the employee, if he would've opened that door I wouldn't have even folded my clothes there.
On Saturday, she put the dress on and was devastated. It is an open back dress, so there are breast pads in front. The dress pads were all jumbled and bunched up. We worked and worked at it, but could not fix. I ended up cutting the $250.00 dress to stick my fingers in and try to straighten out the breast pads.
